Staff Appreciation for the Parents Club

CL CAR WASH CARTOON Round Metal Watch from ArtsNow.com Front

Now it’s time to thank our parent volunteers that worked so hard washing the DGS staff cars today!

Thanks to Jolene Cole for organizing and working at the Teacher Car Wash for Teacher Appreciation Week. Thanks to Jackie Ripper, Jackie McClain, Kirsten McRaven, Rex Walden and Linette & Brent Gresham.

They had a great time and the teachers appreciate the effort so much. They had a great day for washing 18 cars…I think:) and they did it in record time by the end of early dismissal at 2:15pm!

THANK YOU!!!

Thank you DGS Parents Club Board and

Committee Chairs

As we approach the end of our 2011-12 school year and having just held our last Parents Club monthly meeting, we should take this time to express our heartfelt gratitude to an amazing Board and Committee Chairs.

Teacher Appreciation Week Reminder #4

Remember to send your sweet treats on Wednesday! It is so much fun to see what everyone’s favorite treat is. There will be lots of variety. That’s what makes it fun

Thursday is ‘salty’ day. A single serving of something crunchy and salty will help cut through all the sweets from the day before. Chips, pretzels, animal crackers, peanuts, popcorn, whatever your favorite is. How many staff help your child each week?

Teacher Appreciation Week Reminder #1

image

Just a reminder that Monday is the first day of Teacher Appreciation Week. Please take a moment with your students this weekend to write a note to the teachers and staff that they come into contact with at school. These notes of encouragement help put into words how grateful we are to have such a fabulous school community at Dunlap Grade.

Have a great weekend!

Teacher Appreciation Week – “Dinner-To-Go” Help

clip_image002I am in need of volunteer to help prepare out dinner to go for Friday. If you can boil water and cook bacon, you can make this meal. You will probably make 2-3 recipes. As of today, we are cooking for close to 70. That could go up. I will shop for this on Tuesday. I am looking for volunteers to cook at their leisure in their home on (Wednesday, if you must), Thursday, or Friday. This is an easy meal to make. I will deliver all the needed supplies. You will package and deliver them to DGS on Friday after lunch or deliver it to me before then. Please call/email me to confirm your help.

This is the time of year we just spoil the teachers and staff rotten. Think about all the people who touch your children’s lives every day at school: of course there’s the teachers; principal and assistants; library and computer staff; art, music, and p.e. teachers; special services; cafeteria staff; and bus drivers. We have different activities planned for every day of the week: kid activities and adult activities. Please, participate in whatever way you and your family choose to. All…some…none…or your own ideas. These activities are just ideas. Feel free to show your appreciation for our outstanding teachers and staff in ways that matter to you.

Here is what we have planned for the week.

Monday is Refreshing. We are providing refreshment for our faculty and you can too. Simply take some time over the weekend to write a note of thanks to all the people who help your students throughout the week. This can come from you and/or your child. This can be everything from a sentimental note to a drawing to a fun recollection from the school year. It is so easy to let moments pass without acknowledgment. Now is the time to remember them.

Tuesday is Scent-sational. O.k., it’s flower day. If you like, choose a flower or two (or more) from your garden and send them to school for teachers and staff. Please remind your children that your neighbors will not be happy if they pluck flowers from their gardens. You are not limited to live flowers. You can make them or get creative with the ‘flower’ idea.

Wednesday is for Indulging. Have your ‘little sweethearts’ bring a sweet treat of their own, just one piece of their favorite treat. A tootsie roll, lollipop, cookie. You can think outside of the box on this one, too. The parents club is hosting a carwash for the staff today, starting at 12:30. If you are available to help, please let Joleen Cole know she can count on you: 309/363-7612 or mrssmc69@gmail.com .

Thursday we are going to get ‘a bit salty’. We know that everyone has an off day, where they just don’t feel good, didn’t get enough sleep, or are just plain crabby. Well, our staff loves our kids on those days too. You can send a serving of your favorite, salty, crunchy snack.

Friday we’re getting ‘fruity’. We all get a little bit excited on Friday. The weekend is only a few hours away. Let’s celebrate by showering our staff with fruity sentiments. Fresh fruit, stickers, candles, lotions, any ole thing you can think of that your little ‘monkey’ would like to share. The parents club is sending our staff home with dinner for their families tonight. Many hands make light work. If you are willing to help us prepare the meal, please contact Kimber Coulter as soon as possible. 309/243-7149 or kimbercoulter@frontier.com.

Thank you in advance for helping the Dunlap Grade School Parents Club show our teachers exactly how much they mean to us.

2012 Volunteer Reception - 3L Student Helpers

Thank you to the DGS teachers and staff for hosting our volunteer reception on Wednesday, April 18th!  Parent volunteers were served a delicious breakfast in the cafeteria while reminiscing about all of the great DGS events of this school year.  A big thank you to Mrs. Lanser’s 3rd grade student helpers who did a wonderful job of serving our parent volunteers.

THANK YOU!!! First and foremost, a huge Thank You to Jolene Cole and KaiAnn Holt for all their amazing efforts in bringing this Spring’s Scholastic Luau Book Fair to DGS!! It was a great event with a week full of build up, anticipation, games, contests, previews and of course the culminating event itself, the Book Fair last Friday, April 20th.  Also, thanks go to Mrs. Workheiser and Mrs. Ellis who helped at the Book Fair the entire evening.  Thank you to all the volunteers that helped from set up to break down.  And, of course, thanks go to Mr. Etnyre and the entire DGS staff that helped make this event a success!!  We also truly appreciate all the families’ cooperation, participation, and support!!
